4 Signs It’s Time to Replace Your Window Treatments
September 5, 2022
Window treatments in Dallas may seem like a permanent feature of your home. Indeed, they can last for years and become a constant feature of a space. However, they do eventually need to be replaced. How can you tell when it is time to update your window coverings? Let’s talk about a few signs that you should book an appointment with a window treatments specialist.
Your Window Treatments Are Discolored
Sunlight tends to fade fabrics over time. Even high-quality curtains and drapes may eventually begin to lose their vibrance after being exposed to UV rays year after year. If your fabric window coverings seem to be faded, or the color is patchy in places, it is time to think about replacing them.
Other types of window treatments can also become discolored. For example, a combination of UV radiation and indoor pollution may cause white plastic blinds to take on a yellowish appearance.
Your Window Treatments Are Frayed or Otherwise Damaged
Over time, fabric window treatments can become frayed, particularly if you have cats or other animals that like to claw at them. Similarly, small children may cause damage to your window treatments over time, either by stepping on them, pulling on them, or spilling various substances on them. All such types of damage are a good reason to replace your window treatments, particularly if your children have matured or your pets have calmed down somewhat.
Your Window Treatments Are No Longer Operational
If any part of your window treatments is no longer functioning, it may be time to replace them. For example, if you have to struggle with an old cord to open and close your drapes, you have broken or bent blinds, or there are other functionality issues with your window coverings, you are putting up with an unnecessary nuisance. New window treatments will be much easier to operate. You could even get motorized shades or blinds for ultra-easy use.
Your Window Treatments Do Not Fit Your Tastes
Your window treatments may be perfectly functional, and they may look decent. However, if they do not fit your personal tastes, that is a good enough reason to replace them. Perhaps your sense of style has evolved since you bought them, or maybe you are in the process of renovating your home. Whether you are painting your walls, purchasing new furniture, or making other changes to your house’s interior, your window treatments should be upgraded to complement your new décor.
Are your window treatments damaged or no longer meeting your needs? If so, it is time to say goodbye and replace them with something new.
